Industry leader ASKO’s innovative and sustainable washing machine range has been approved by the National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice®program – the only laundry appliance brand in Australia to have been given accreditation. This means ASKO’s smart Scandinavian-designed products not only offer a combination of everyday functionalism, environmental concern and clean, pleasant lines but can now be confidently chosen as the right laundry appliance for people with asthma and allergies.

The Sensitive Choice program helps to educate Australians by increasing awareness of the household products and services available that meet strict guidelines that are asthma and allergy friendly to make life easier for sufferers.

According to the Asthma Council Australia there are 2.3 million Australians with asthma, and one-in-three Australians suffer from allergies. The symptoms are commonly set off by triggers such as moulds, dust mites, pollens and pets and can be improved by reducing or avoiding these factors.

The Sensitive Choice Product Advisory Panel, comprising experts in allergy, respiratory medicine, pharmacy, general practice, industrial chemistry and consumer issues, review all products that have been presented to the program. Only products that may be a better choice for people with asthma or allergy are included on the Sensitive Choice register and are able to display the program’s blue butterfly logo.

A report by the World Health Organisation[1] cites dampness and microbial growth on interior surfaces and in building structures as a key contributing factor in health problems such as respiratory symptoms, allergies and asthma. ASKO front loading washing machines can now be confidently purchased for households where a sensitive approach is desired.

ASKO laundry appliances offer understated elegance, high-quality craftsmanship and natural materials and are manufactured with innovative features designed to make daily life easier and healthier. Steel Seal, Quattro and impressive energy and water ratings make them a superior choice for consumers.

    ● Steel Seal: Derived from commercial washing machine technology, SteelSeal provides a more hygienic wash by eliminating the rubber door bellow that can trap dirt and grime, causing mould to build up over time. Never needs cleaning or replacing and provides easier loading and unloading.

    ● Quattro: Most washing machines only have two internal legs; ASKO’s Quattro system has four shock absorber legs that virtually eliminate vibration, for quieter operation and a longer life.

    ● Sensi Save: SensiSave sensors in the washing machine detect the size of the laundry load and match water levels and time accordingly, using less water and energy when washing smaller loads.

    ● Programs, options and modes: Select ASKO washers include modes such as green, allergy, speed and intensive modes for customised washing performance. Time programs, drum cleaning and easy care are a few of the many programs ASKO washers offer.
